Funny instant message typo’s

Thursday, April 10th, 2008

If you are like me, and you’re not face it, you spend a lot of time in front of your computer with your Instant Messenger client of choice distracting you on a regular basis. Often in my haste to please an IM buddy I’ll quickly type something and I’ve noticed that I make some funny typo’s. So, I’ve amassed them in a brief list. Feel free to add more in the comments section.

  • fort = for - this is typically the result of a fat finger
  • ti’s = it’s - not an ode to Frank McCourt
  • dong = doing
  • abou tit = about it
  • noi = no i
  • meat = me at
  • pees = peace
  • lame = my wife’s cat

Incidentally, any 10.5 users using Spaces frustrated by iChat’s hostile take over of your machine upon a new chat? Do. Not. Want!

Little Major League experience…

Wednesday, April 9th, 2008

You may be familiar with an improv/performance art group called Improv Everywhere. They pull off some pretty sweet stunts seemingly at random and in public places. My personal favorite is when 50 or so of them all froze in place on cue in Grand Central Station. They held their place for what seemed to be an eternity, then all at once they unfroze and moved on with their actions. People in Grand Central applauded.

The most recent feat I’ve come across from them is this gem. They really put a lot of effort and planning in to one of their productions. They take the time to learn the names and history of people unwittingly involved, and in this case, really deliver an experience only dreamed of. If I were one of the kids in this video I’d be talking about it for years to come.

Here we are. Christmas 2007, and still no flying cars.

C&C Drum Company

Friday, December 14th, 2007

ccdrum.jpgWhen I was in college I met a dude named Jake. I wasn’t a freshman, but he was.

The first time I met him I remember there being a lot of noise. Hollering. There was also a rainbow clown wig and a Fender Stratocastor; it was light blue, I believe. Maybe green.

I quickly realized I recognized Jake, he was the drummer for a band, called Shine, later (*see comments) Reflector, and I had heard them a month before and really liked them. Jake played drums.

Jake’s last name is Cardwell, and his dad is Bill Cardwell. They are the Cardwells’ of the famed C&C Drum Company.

The Pitch recently published an article on Bill and C&C, and it brought back memories of me, Steve (who had played in a previous band with Jake) and Jake breaking into the store late at night to pass time and make music.

We would typically buy a couple 12-packs of Corona or Boulevard, then drive to the store where we would each pick out the instrument of our choice and then play until we got bored of the instrument; then we would pick out another. Of course, we would have to put everything back in order just the way we found it and close everything back up before anyone got there to open up.

It does me good to see that C&C is still doing great, and growing leaps and bounds. The Cardwell&s deserve their success. Those guys really do build some of the finest drums you will ever hear.

Sensibility?

This morning I woke up and jumped in the shower (Side Note: it was deluxe day in the shower, which means i wash/condition my mane, and trim my face). When I came downstairs Jen was a tad bit more than her cheery self.

As I walked into the kitchen to pour my coffee she says to me, “Hey, good morning,” with a cheerfulness that was almost scary. Then I found out why, “Two things,” she said, “Good morning, and this Thanksgiving let’s be sensible eaters.” What?!

I immediately knew what had happened during deluxe day in the shower: Jen had been watching The Today Show. If only I could count the things the Today Show has ruined for me in my life. Why couldn’t their writers have gone on strike?

Happy Thanksgiving

Teaser…

Wednesday, May 2nd, 2007

I haven’t written much lately, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t a lot on my mind. Following posts will include thus:

  • I know for a fact this blog has at least one more reader: Samuel. I work with this guy, and he’s an all around great person. Me & him are on the fast track to world domination.
  • There is one specific record that is burning a hole in my brain and ears. I can’t wait to share lyrics and music snippets with you dear reader.
  • Steve got shafted at the Doves.
  • I finally get to go to a live production of A Prairie Home Companion!
  • Barack Obama is making a visit to KC on May 12. I may or may not get to go.

So, there you go. Stick close. I promise to write full entries as soon as I can.

In the mean time, feel free to check my Twitter ticker to the right. I update that sometimes several times a day.

One last thing: the Contact page has gone bye-bye until I can find something new that doesn’t send me so much spam. Suggestions?

Happy St. Patty’s Day…beware!

I have so much to write about right now, but there just isn’t enough time. Real quick here’s a rundown: Steve the cat has competition for fiercest predator in the hood, Jayhawks gonna run the table, new job update, some movie thoughts, and a goofy photo shoot that I was asked to be a part of. I’ll have to get to all of those over the next week or so.

Right now, though, it is the eve of St. Patty’s day! My buddy Carson Swisher is partly responsible for this wicked funny video involving a drunk leprechaun. Funnier thing is that he and his friend held auditions for the production in his house, and from the looks of it filmed it in his house that he had closed on three days earlier. You can see Carson in the back at one point with a cam in front of his face trying to get out of the way.

I checked on YouTube, the video is up to nearly 5,000 views and the reviews are pretty great. Have fun with the video, made me laugh.

OH! And if you need video production work for anything, you gotta go with Carson. Dude’s p.i.m.p. When you talk to him ask to see his Urban Wakeboarding and Urban Snowboarding videos.

Words I had to look up in this post: Leprechaun, predator and Your Mom.

Quick Thoughts: TV & TP?

Thursday, March 1st, 2007

tvandtp.jpgWow, it’s amazing what a Thursday evening without The Office will do to your head! Whilst watching television tonight three things occurred to me. They are as follows.

1) What up America? Seriously, you leave that kid Sanjaya on American Idol… really? This kid is a dweeb. He needs to give Julia Roberts her mouth back.
As if keeping the pubestach on wasn’t bad enough, America, you kept Antonella “NSFW” Barba. I’ve seen your pictures Antonella (who hasn’t, they were even on USA Today’s site I believe) and they are about as hard to look at as your singing is hard to listen to.

2) Hello Black Donnellys. Good bye Sopranos! Please please please do not run away from us like the goodfellas on HBO.

3) Finally, how big are these rolls of toilet paper going to get? Charmin is actually offering rolls of tp that are equal to four normal sized rolls. That must be the size of an orange Gatorade cooler! Save a tree why don’t ya.
